Last Friday saw members from the Derby & District Law Society stop by on their charity bike ride!
Over the day they covered 83 miles, to raise awareness and money for the Derbyshire Children's Holiday Centre.
The DCHC offer holidays for children who would not otherwise be able to
get away. Offering activites such as swimming, trips to the theatre,
coastal walks & the ever popular ten pin bowling! This time away can
help to build self-esteem, make friendships, and let them experience activities that they may not have access to otherwise.
They provide these much needed breaks to over 600 children a year, and rely soley on donations to keep running.
If you wish to learn more about what they offer, please visit www.dchc.org.uk

How to Choose a Conveyancing Solicitor
If you’re asking yourself, how do I choose a
solicitor? We’re here to help.
Some would argue that your choosing of a solicitor
is the most important decision you can make in the process of buying a home.
A slow or uncommunicative solicitor can cause
significant problems and even result in the collapse of a deal.
To help you avoid this, we’ve put together our
advice on how to choose a solicitor.

Sarah's Static Cycle
Sarah says:
This year I really want to make a
difference and give something back – Barnardo’s is such a worthy cause and it’s
an honour to be a part of it and take on The Bucket List Challenge. I became
inspired having recently read the story of Dr Barnardo and learning of his
courage and determination to make a difference to the world. He gave up his
dreams to stay and help children in London which motivated me to do something
out of my comfort zone and something that represented him.
In October 7 2017, I, alongside a
leading Strength and Conditioning Coach, will cycle “virtually” from
QualitySolicitors Chapman & Chubb’s office in Derbyshire to The Ragged
Museum in London, where Dr Barnardo began dedicating himself to helping
children in desperate need.
My coach has very kindly agreed to train me during the next 9 months to get me ready for the 160 mile static cycle.
You will be able to follow our challenge via
Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and through the local radio – all social media
addresses will be added to our Just Giving page QSChapmanChubb - Just Giving

Another satisfied customer
Praise for our conveyancers ...........
"Very efficient and professional. Also we were on a tight deadline (along with dates due to stamp duty changes) and the team worked long hours in their personal time to make sure we completed on time."Thomas,

Buy to Let - Stamp Duty
George Osborne’s plans to impose a Stamp Duty surcharge on “Buy To Let” and other additional properties looks set to come into force on 1 April 2016.
Anyone buying a second property (which isn’t or doesn’t replace their main residence) after that date will be subject to a further Stamp Duty charge of 3% in addition to all existing Stamp Duty. This even covers properties over £40,000 which previously were exempt from stamp duty.

A Pleasant Surprise
This will be a pleasant surprise for our probate team, Rachel and Pat, when they arrive this morning.
It is particularly heart warming that our efforts to help people when they really require a caring shoulder to lean on goes some way to ease a difficult time for them.

Landlords are being warned that they have just a matter of days to protect tenancy deposits, or face thousands in fines.
The new Deregulation Act means more tenancy deposits are now
under deposit protection law if received before 6 April 2007, and gives
landlords until only 23 June to register them in a government approved scheme.
Otherwise they face a penalty of between one and three times the value of the
deposit and restrictions on regaining possession of their property.
